Hello, my name is Luna!

My Background
I was born with the genes that make me go: 'Oh, this looks cool! Let’s see if I can make this myself!'
Born with a DIY spirit, my creative journey began early. Growing up in a creative household, I went to a Waldorf primary school, pursued a passion for nails during high school, and later studied Fashion & Management in Amsterdam.
I ended up working for a (great!) sustainable fashion company, and somehow fell into the world of managing HR & Customer experience.
After spending way too much time glued to my laptop for work, I had an epiphany—I wanted to travel and work with my hands and turn my million creative hobbies into a career.

The Start of La Salamandre
In 2021, my boyfriend Kjelld (who is a great chef) and I transformed our own van into a camper/ restaurant and atelier on wheels.
in 2022 we started our own company called ‘La Salamandre’, where we combined our passions by hosting private dinners with handmade table decor. Creating unforgettable memories all across Europe.
A year later, our journey brought us back to Amsterdam, where Kjelld pursues culinary dreams, and I dive deeper into my creative projects.

One Year of Creative Exploration
At the end of 2023, I took a leap—switching to part-time work to fully dive into all my creative passions. From a tiny desk in my Amsterdam apartment and a shared pottery studio, I spent every spare moment making, experimenting, and sharing it all on Instagram. Before I knew it, my creative journey had turned into a growing community!
Soon, I was hosting workshops, loading up my campervan with supplies, and bringing creativity to different venues. Watching people surprise themselves with what they could create—even when they thought they weren’t 'creative'—was the best feeling. For me, it’s all about the joy of the process, and I knew I wanted even more of it!

Opening my own Atelier
Fast forward to early 2025, and I finally made it happen — I opened my own atelier in Weesp! I transformed an empty space into a cozy, inspiring studio where creativity can truly come to life. Now, I get to host workshops, bring people together, and share the joy of making. This journey has been incredible, and it’s only just beginning. I can’t wait to see what this year will bring — and hopefully, see you here soon!

What truly matters
Both Kjelld and I intentionally left our office jobs to pursue our passion for hands-on work. We've noticed a widespread societal focus on academic achievements and corporate success. Nevertheless, we firmly believe that choosing to work with your hands is not only a valid and fulfilling option but is just as valuable as any other choice.
At Atelier La Salamandre, I don't just sell my creations; I aim to inspire others to get creative as well. I truly believe in the positive impact of having a creative outlet. In a world often focused on academic and business success, many people lose touch with their creative 'inner child.' My goal is to help people relax, unwind, and rediscover their creativity by encouraging them to start a creative hobby.
